David
David is a Benin-based photojournalist, filmmaker and fixer, born in Godomey in 1987. Trained in journalism and media, he adopted photography as his primary language for documenting his time — a self-taught practice shaped by fieldwork, sitting at the intersection of photojournalism, cultural reportage and fine art. His work documents the social, cultural and spiritual realities of Benin and West Africa, and his field experience and fluent English have earned him the trust of international organisations, press agencies and production companies — including UNICEF, Sightsavers, FairPicture, African Parks and the Associated Press.

Documenting civil society in the field

PISCCA (Projets Innovants des Sociétés Civiles et des Coalitions d'Acteurs) is the French Embassy in Benin's principal programme supporting civil society — funding initiatives led by Beninese civil-society organisations that help vulnerable populations, particularly young people and women. David documented the programme's projects on the ground.

Ending trachoma as a public health concern
WHO & SIGHTSAVERS — ACCELERATE PROGRAMME · Images: David
Through the combined efforts of the Beninese government, the WHO and the NGO Sightsavers (via the Accelerate programme), Benin officially eliminated trachoma as a public health concern in 2021. David was commissioned to support field awareness campaigns and document surgical operations in hospitals.

AFRICAN PARKS NETWORK — ELEPHANT COLLARING MISSION · Images: David
African Parks Network, which manages several national parks across Africa including two in northern Benin, commissioned David to document an elephant-collaring mission. He spent several days in Pendjari and W National Parks covering the operation on the ground.

In 2025 Benin became one of West Africa's most dynamic cashew producers, with a strong commitment to fair trade and organic farming. Fairtrade commissioned David, through FairPicture, to document this progress in photographs and a documentary film highlighting the sector's key players.
