Look around! Labs are the coolest but can also be dangerous if you don’t pay attention to your surroundings!

Follow the below rules to stay safe:

  1. Avoid leaning against lab bench tops, fume hoods, and shelving.
  2. Do not touch any chemicals or pieces of equipment outside of the designated activities.
  3. No eating or drinking in the lab!

Personal Protective Equipment – Personal Laboratory Armor!

When working with hazardous materials in a lab, researchers wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep them safe!

PPE Includes (at a minimum):

- Lab coats

- Gloves

- Safety Goggles

Accidents Happen!

The lab is an exciting place to be, but there is always a lot going on. Because of this, accidents can happen!

If something happens that isn’t supposed to, don’t panic. Follow the below steps to ensure everyone is kept safe:

  1. Alert the host of your activity.
  2. Remain calm and listen to the instructions of your group leader.
