Who Am I?

Mr. O’Grady-

Welcome! My name is Kyle O’Grady. This is my first year as a Social Studies/ Business Education teacher here at CHSN. Prior to working at North, I was a Social Studies teacher at Ossining High School in Westchester County where I taught this same course along with AP Government & Politics

I previously completed my student teaching at CHSN! I have lived in Rockland County my whole life. I graduated from North Rockland High School, SUNY New Paltz and SUNY Albany.

In my spare time I am an avid sports fan!

I look forward to fun and exciting year of Economics/ Government! 12th grade is my favorite grade to teach!

  • Our classroom consists of many diverse learners, and it is my goal to keep students motivated, engaged, and working at a high level both in and out of the classroom.

Expectations

  • This course is said to be one of the most important courses a student will take during high school due to the key concepts and relevance

  • Students will be expected to come to class prepared, and ready to learn

  • Students are expected to respect the classroom environment, fellow students and the teacher

  • Google Classroom will be used to store class notes and submit some assignments/ projects

What is Economics/Personal Finance?

Course Description: Economics is the study of how people and groups manage limited resources to meet endless desires and requirements.

  • It involves examining how decisions are made when resources are scarce, meaning there aren't enough resources to fulfill all the wants and demands.

  • A heavy emphasis will be placed on how the economy will directly affect a students personal finances

Weekly Quizzes

  • Senior classes will be assigned a weekly quiz every Friday

  • The quiz will cover the topics discussed in class during that week and will be open notes

  • Review for the quiz will take place on Thursday’s the day before the quiz

Communication

  • Senior year is a very busy year for students!

  • A limited amount of work will be given outside of the classroom

  • Students are encouraged to speak to the teacher when they are absent and about making up late work

Extra Help

    • Wednesday mornings in Room 410

    • Thursday afternoons in Room 410

    • Other times by appointment
