��������Purposes of the Committee��������

• To promote quality social, economic, and physical well-being for retired school personnel.
• To provide information on available services to address issues and opportunities involving the quality of life (health and wellness, welfare, personal and financial safety).
• To promote information regarding retirement transitions.

���������Quality of Life �Committee Composition����������

The NCRSP Quality of Life Committee is composed of representatives selected by the region directors and approved by the NCRSP President. The state committee co-chairs are appointed by the President and serve as representatives on the NCRSP Executive Board.. The committee members communicate by email and Zoom to discuss issues, propose ideas for the monthly Wednesday Workshop, and determine ways to share our information with members in each region.

��������Co-Chair Responsibilities���������

The co-chairs report on the activities of the committee to the NCRSP Executive Board. They coordinate the monthly Wednesday Workshop on Zoom on a variety of topics of interest to our members. The c0-chairs share relevant quality of life articles with committee members and members of the Executive Board. They submit relevant articles for publishing through various NCRSP channels of communication such as Panorama, website, and social media. They solicit input from committee members and call meetings which may be in person, by conference call, or virtual, i.e. Zoom.

���������Committee Responsibilities���������

• Monitor developments in the State Health Plan (for non-Medicare eligible), Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, sharing critical information with members through committee members, regional and local leadership.
• Gather information concerning elderly safety and health issues.
• Study proposed legislative initiatives in the General Assembly that will impact the quality of life of senior citizens, keeping members informed of the details of these initiatives and the Committee’s assessment of them.

���������Committee Responsibilities���������

• Work with other agencies on issues affecting the elderly (i.e. AARP, Alliance for Retired Americans, NC Coalition on Aging).
1. Facilitate workshops in cooperation with NCAE on pre-retirement, retirement and transitional issues for retirees/potential retirees.
2. Promote member benefits available through membership in NCRSP and NEA-Retired at the local, regional, and state levels. (Submitted June 2022)

How You May Become Involved

• Submit topics for consideration for future Wednesday Workshop sessions to regional and state committee members
• Serve as a Quality of Life committee chair for your local, sharing the latest information to the members in your local by email and/or at your local meetings
• Serve as a Region Quality of Life Chair by representing your region on the state committee and sharing information with regional leadership at meetings and/or by email

��������Strategic Plan Goals �& Accomplishments��������

• Continue with the monthly Wednesday Workshops and track participation numbers
• Announce the next Wednesday Workshop topic at the close of the current month’s Zoom presentation to promote participation
• Prepare monthly articles on quality of life topics to distribute to regional leadership for their use in local units
• Prepare an article for each edition of the Panorama
• Review and update the Quality of Life webpage quarterly
• Represent Quality of Life on the NCRSP Executive Boar
