Lankenau Environmental Magnet High School provides an academically-focused and student-centered approach to learning through agro-ecology, natural resource management, and environmental science. We create hands on learning opportunities that enable students to actively engage in Philadelphia's robust and growing green infrastructure and industry.

Starting SY 22-23, Lankenau offers Philadelphia’s newest Career and Technical Educate (CTE) program: Agriculture, Food, Natural Resources (AFNR).
This CTE program will allow students to explore agribusiness, animal systems, biotechnology, environmental service systems, food products and processing systems, natural resource management and more…
THE LANKENAU INTERNSHIP

We encourage students to gain hands-on real-world experiences during their time at Lankenau.
Lankenau 12th graders partake in external internships throughout the city to explore their interests as it directly and indirectly relates to environmental science. This year-long opportunity allows students to learn new things while building a professional network.

Lankenau Seniors, Tahshawn Wiggins and Tymeir McFadden, interned at Bennett Compost.
Seniors also interned at the Academy of Natural Sciences.
Interns educated youth at the museum about insects.

Lankenau artists won multiple awards at the 2024 Young Artist’s show at 440
Every student and staff attends Outward Bound for outdoor team building

“I feel like Lankenau is my family” Penn State Director of K-12 Engagement
12th graders completed their senior project by earning The Congressional Award which provides opportunities for young people to unleash their potential by achieving personal goals focused on volunteerism, character development, and fitness.
Michael Cano completed his physical fitness goal of working out for 45 minutes for 75 consecutive days! Next year he is attending Rutgers University to study computer science.
Tashawn Wiggins completed an expedition in the Wissahickon exploring trails and identifying plants in nature. Next year he is attending Point Park University to study film & animation.
