ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ ਜਨਮਦਿਨ ਮੇਰਾ, ਰਲ ਮਿਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਮਣਾਵਾਂਗੇ !
ਸੋਚਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੈਠੀ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੇ
ਸੂਰਜ, ਚੰਨ, ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਫੇਰੀ ਪਾਕੇ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ |

ਸਵੇਰੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਸੀ ਖੋਲੀ,
ਵੇਖਿਆ ਗਜ਼ਬ ਕਮਾਲ !
ਖਿੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਸੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਰਾਕੇਟ ਉੱਡਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ !
ਵੇਖ ਬਲਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਦਾ ਇੰਜਣ,
ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਸੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ !
ਫੁਰਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉੱਡ ਚੱਲੀ
ਪੁਲਾੜ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਗੁਲ !
ਬਿੱਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਡਰਕੇ ਕੰਬਣ ਲੱਗੀ,
ਸਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਗਏ ਚੱਕਰ!
ਕੁੱਝ ਕੁ ਮਿੰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਏ,
ਅਸੀਂ ਏਨੀ ਉੱਪਰ !

ਛੇ ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ,
ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ,
'ਸਪੇਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ' ਹਨ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਚਾ !

ਪਲਾਂਘ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਟਣ ਲੱਗੇ,
ਲੱਤਾਂ ਸੁੰਨ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ,
ਪਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ
ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ !
ਹਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ,
ਕਦੀ ਖੱਬੇ ਤੇ ਕਦੀ ਸੱਜੇ |
ਝੂਮਦੇ ਏਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਜਾਈਏ
ਸਭ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਲੱਗੇ !

ਓਹ ਹੋ! ਮੇਰਾ ਝੋਲਾ ਵੀ ਮੁੱਧਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਤੇ ਜਲੇਬੀਆਂ ਆਗੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਰ !
ਸਮੋਸੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ
ਪਾਏ ਸੀ ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਵਿਚ ਬਸਤੇ |
ਉਥਲ-ਪੁਥਲ ਕੇ ਭੁਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ,
ਚਿੱਪ ਚਿੱਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰੱਸ,
ਅਗੇ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਪੈਕਟ-ਬੰਦ ਭੋਜਨ ਹੀ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗੀ ਬੱਸ !

ਸਿਰੋਂ ਲੈਕੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਲਿੱਬੜੀ,
ਕਪੜੇ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਖਰਾਬ,
ਬਿੱਲੀ ਆ ਆ ਚੱਟੀ ਜਾਵੇ,
ਨਹਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਬੜਾ ਚਾਹਵੇ
ਰਾਜ਼ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਵਾਂ ,
ਪੁਲਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੂਟੀ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਥਿਆਵਾਂ?
ਤੌਲੀਆ ਗਿੱਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਵਾਂ,
ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਫੇਰ, ਮੈਂ ਕੰਮ ਚਲਾਵਾਂ |
ਸ਼ੈਂਪੂ ਕੱਢਕੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਤੇ
ਮੱਲ -ਮੱਲਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਲਾਵਾਂ,
ਉਤੋਂ ਤੌਲੀਏ ਨਾਲ
ਰਗੜ-ਰਗੜ ਚਮਕਾਵਾਂ |

ਇਹ ਖਾਸ ਦਿਨ ਹੈ ਆਇਆ
ਰਲ ਕੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਈਏ,
ਆਜੋ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਈਏ !
ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਮੈਂ ਚੱਲੀ,
ਠੰਢੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰਾਤ ਵੱਲ,
ਟਿਮ-ਟਿਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਚਮਕਣ ਤਾਰੇ,
ਵੱਡੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ-ਪਿਆਰੇ,
ਇਓਂ ਜਾਪੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ
“ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ !" ਸਾਰੇ |

ਮੈਂ ਇਹਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁੱਕ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ,

ਛੇਤੀ-ਛੇਤੀ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਠ ਜਾਵਾਂ,
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੰਦ ਸਾਫ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਵਾਂ
ਪਰ ਪੇਸਟ ਸਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੰਘਾਵਾਂ !

ਲੈਪਟੌਪ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾਹ ਧਰਾਂ,
“ਹੈਲੋ ਕੌਣ?” ਅੰਮੀ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ
“ਪੁਲਾੜ 'ਚੋਂ ਗੁਲ” ਮੈਂ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਦਸਿਆ |
ਇਕ-ਇਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ
ਅਚੰਬੇ ਜੋ-ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸੀ ਵੇਖੇ,
ਧਰਤੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੈ ਲੱਗੇ,
ਨਾਲੇ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਅਜਬ ਨਜ਼ਾਰੇ |

ਦੋ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਰਹਿਕੇ ਇਥੇ,
ਆਇਆ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ।
ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬੱਚੇ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਣ
ਸੁਪਨਾ ਪੁਲਾੜ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਵੇਖਣ।
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੋ,
ਤਾਂ ਕਰ ਲਓ ਤਿਆਰੀ,
ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਬਿੱਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ,
ਹੁਣ ਆਵੇਗੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਵਾਰੀ !
Did You Know?
- You need to sit inside a rocket to go into space. There are different kinds of rockets, but the most common one is the kind that Gul and her cat go in. The rocket takes them to the International Space Station (ISS), which is Gul’s home in space for two months. They use a spacecraft called Soyuz to return to Earth from the ISS.
- There are spacecrafts that go from Earth to ISS carrying specially packed food and water, and other things that astronauts need to live there. Gul has to be careful with the use of water inside the space station. Every drop is precious.
