  • Host a livestream: Meet the project scientist, learn about the project, participate in the project, real-time participation, takeaways
  • Designed for ages 13 and up.
  • Fun for all! Gateway to more citizen science and STEM engagement.

Acts of Science: Connected

SciStarter does the heavy lifting! We invite the scientist, set up the main Zoom room, and produce the central “mothership” event (about 2 hours) that all participating locations connect into. All you need to do is register to host a satellite event and livestream the “Mothership” event, invite your community, prepare WiFi and devices, and add the in-person fun for participants as they contribute to science!

Benefits to Facilitators

  • Connect your community directly with working scientists.
  • Offer hands-on, impactful science experiences for all audiences.
  • Receive a full host toolkit and playbook from SciStarter & partners (including training, promotional assets, and take-home resources).
  • Accelerate scientific research while advancing local STEM learning.

Acts of Science: Connected

Before:

  • Register to host a satellite event at your library (you’ll livestream the “mothership” zoom event into your library)
  • Organize a gathering at your library or other venue: reserve location, promote, encourage sign ups for free SciStarter accounts and project accounts (this is how we will count the Acts!)
  • Prepare device/ensure wifi for public use and large screen display with speakers
  • Offer your library community passive event resources available throughout the month of April.

During:

  • Do Real Science — Log in to Zoom to meet the scientists, learn about the project, and we’ll all do the project together. No boring lectures—this is hands-on, real data collection.
  • Q&A [On Zoom]— Ask the scientist anything, hear from other participating locations.

After:

  • Complete brief survey re # of attendees.
  • Celebrate the results — Learn about the impact you made
  • Takeaways — Send participants home with take-away materials to continue

engagement (SciStarter will provide downloadable, takeaways.)
