• The legislation recognizes the vital importance of CTE to RI’s future economic stability.

• The CTEBOT meets monthly to address how and to what degree career and technical education programs across the state prepare students to meet the current and future workforce needs of industry.

Approved CTE Programs and Proposed CTE Programs

MUST adhere to all the Quality Indicators in the Program Standards

The application for a new CTE program includes questions and supporting evidence plus a mandatory LEA self-assessment that will help determine the program’s readiness for getting approved. Developing a new CTE program is a rigorous process that involves intentionally mapping the program to all the quality indicators on the standard.

How EnrollRI will work as a resource for students choosing to participate in a CTE Program in Rhode Island

23

EnrollRI Scenario:

A middle school student is interested in enrolling in a CTE Program in high school. The student:

  • goes to EnrollRI-CTE on the RIDE website and reviews the information available that includes:

• Career Clusters

• Links to districts

• Related information

  • identifies IT as the Career Cluster of choice
  • enters zip code of residence and, in order, the EnrollRI platform identifies related programs based on the zip code and if the resident district has an IT program, that is the first location noted

How EnrollRI will work as a resource for students choosing to participate in a CTE Program in Rhode Island

24

  • Based on the proximity to the resident zip code, each CTE Program will then ‘load’ based on distance in the transportation region

• there will be an explanation that CTE Programs

outside of the transportation region are

available to the student but transportation is

the responsibility of the parent/guardian

  • Student/parent/guardian review the common application and submit
  • CTE Program enrollment may be a determining factor for acceptance
