SPRING 2026 SEASON
RBHS Spring
Varsity Athletes
Code of Conduct Overview
Excellence in Athletics Starts with Character and Integrity
Student-Athletes are Held to High Standards at All Times and Places
The Code of Conduct is enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Coverage includes conduct on or off school property, during and after school hours.
The Code remains in effect during summer and all school breaks, even when school is not in session.
You are an exemplar of RBHS in every environment you enter, representing your team and community.
Gross Misconduct Interferes with School Operations and Safety
Conduct that interferes with, disrupts, or adversely affects the school environment or operations.
Violations are defined by Board policy 7:190, building handbooks, and specific program rules.
Hazing and bullying are strictly prohibited and compromise the safety of the school community.
Failure to abide by the code could result in immediate removal from the athletic activity.
Zero Tolerance for Tobacco, Alcohol, and Illegal Substances
Prohibited actions include possession, purchase, consumption, or supplying to other students.
Applies to tobacco, nicotine, alcohol, steroids, drugs, and all related paraphernalia.
Includes "look-alike" substances intended to have an intoxicating effect or believed to be a prohibited substance.
Violations apply even if the substance is not prescribed to the student or permitted at the time/place.
Your Digital Footprint Reflects Your Character and Team Values
Social media posts are public and permanent. Conduct that disrupts the school environment is a violation.
Avoid posting illegal activities or substance use. These are direct violations of the Code of Conduct.
Refrain from cyberbullying, harassment, or derogatory comments toward teammates, opponents, or staff.
Remember: Coaches, recruiters, and community members are watching your digital behavior.
Athletes Serve as Ambassadors for the Riverside-Brookfield Community
Your behavior off-campus directly impacts the reputation of RBHS Athletics and your entire team.
Reciprocal agreements with local law enforcement ensure the school is notified of infractions off school grounds.
Good citizenship is expected in all public spaces, including local businesses and community events.
When traveling, you represent RBHS at opposing schools—maintain respect and sportsmanship at all times.
Disciplinary Actions Scale with the Severity and Frequency of Offenses
1
First Offense
Suspension from 50% of the athletic season's competitions. Possible reduction to 25% with administrative approval.
2
Second Offense
One full school year suspension (3 consecutive sport seasons) from all RBHS athletics. Possible reduction to 50% of 1.5 seasons.
3
Third Offense
Permanent loss of all athletic privileges at Riverside Brookfield High School.
Suspensions are served immediately and consecutively across participation categories. Consequences carry over to the next season/year if not completed.
Accountability and Proactive Steps Can Lead to Consequence Reductions
Reductions are not guaranteed and are at the sole discretion of the administration based on the nature of the infraction.
For substance-related violations, students must participate in an organized program with a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor.
Any mandated community service requirements must be fully completed prior to reinstatement in athletic activities.
Failure to complete agreed-upon programs leads to the reinstatement of the full original consequence.
Success Requires a Signed Commitment from Athletes and Parents
Both students and parents/guardians must sign the Code of Conduct stating they have read and understood the terms.
Your signature confirms that you agree to the disciplinary actions that may be imposed if the code is not followed.
The Code of Conduct must be signed before a student may participate in any extracurricular activity or practice.
Let's have a safe, competitive, and honorable Spring season!
