WHY I STARTED YOGA

4 of 13

  • I needed space to breathe

  • I wanted to feel grounded

  • I longed for stillness

  • I craved connection with myself

JOURNAL ENTRY: DAY 1

“I stepped out and into a new space, the club, the group, the mat, unsure and overwhelmed.

My body felt awkward, tight, my mind worried about not belonging. But one deep breath softened something inside me. Maybe this is where healing begins.”

JOURNAL ENTRY: SLOWING DOWN

“I rush through life. Yoga showed me how much I rush through myself. Trying to hold a pose longer ….revealed the places I avoid within myself….

I’m learning to stay…..Yoga begins when you are ready to exit the pose…..”

“Meditation felt impatient waiting for the next breath, next picture in my mind, busy with all the stuff. My thoughts were loud. But today, I found one quiet breath. Just one. And it felt like a victory. Just for today do no worry. Just for Today be compassionate to yourself and others”

Journal Entry: Stillness

JOURNAL ENTRY: THE BODY REMEMBERS

“My hips opened and so did memories. Old emotions surfaced….raw and unexpected.”

“Yoga is teaching me to listen to the stories my body has been holding.”

“Crow teaches me to trust the lean….”

“Headstand teaches me to trust the support….”

“Skipping headstand for now is wisdom, not limitation, not failure….”

“Strength and trust go together…., one cannot exist in the absence of the other…”

Breakthrough Moment Note

“For the first time, I felt grounded in Warrior II. Not perfect. But present. And that was enough.”

WHAT YOGA IS TEACHING ME

  • Strength without force
  • Flexibility without losing myself
  • Discipline without punishment
  • Presence without perfection
  • Compassion toward my own becoming

“Yoga is not something I do. Yoga is something I become. Every day, I meet a new version of myself on the mat, and I’m learning to welcome her.”

  • “It is not about “achieving” the pose, it is about feeling steady and safe.”
  • “Confidence does not come after the pose it comes from showing up gently and consistently.”
  • “Falling safely means I am learning….”
