Goals for the Redesign
Elementary Portuguese I and II and Intermediate Portuguese I and II are the core courses in the Portuguese Program at the University of Central Florida. Our goal for the redesign is to use Realizeit for POR 1120, POR 1121, POR 2200, and POR 2201. We hope that using Adaptive Learning in these courses will both aid in the structure of the program as well as help with student retention. Another objective of this redesign is to provide consistency in our classes, so that students will have the same learning experience regardless of the instructor teaching these courses.
Project Description
Project Overview
We will start using Realizeit in POR 1120, POR 1121, POR 2200, and POR 2201, in all modalities, including face-to-face courses. Students will be able to use Adaptive Learning in these courses which will in turn allow them to have more control and independence in their learning journey in Portuguese. We have created learning materials to be used in these four courses for all lessons covered throughout the four semesters of Portuguese. Each lesson in Realizeit includes an introduction to the lesson with grammar explanations, and students are able to complete a “check of understanding” before completing assignments related to the lesson.
