Sit in one of the group of desks in the middle. Take out a new paper titled: Crusade Memories and respond to this scenario:You are a peasant in England. Your good friend, who is also a peasant, has decided to join a Crusade to capture the city of Jerusalem from the Muslim Empire in the East. He has asked you to come with him or stay home to look after his family and home. You are torn between the desire for adventure and possible riches that you might find on the Crusade, and fear of the dangers that await you on such a long journey. So, will you go or stay behind? Why?

The year is 1097.
You are a poor peasant farmer in southern England.
A mysterious monk has arrived in your village.
He calls all the people of the village to come to the town square.
Once everyone has arrived, he unfurls a scroll.
The crowd falls silent, and he begins to read.
Why would a medieval Christian who heard this speech be inspired to go on Crusade and what would they hope to receive?
Crusade Memories
Thinking back to that day reminded you of many other things you saw, and experienced, on your journey. You decide you should write them down for future generations.
You will revisit a series of memories of a crusader. Analyze the memories at each station then record your memories for future generations by completing the writing prompts.
You won’t have much time to reminisce – only three minutes per station – so work quickly and don’t waste time.
