Font Formatting and Text Layout

  • Choose Sans Serif fonts
  • Use 18+ size font
  • Use bold to highlight, avoid using large blocks of italics
  • Only use the Underline function for links
  • Avoid using colour only to highlight text
  • Use bullet points to break up content
  • Avoid putting text over images
  • Consider where your subtitles and video will show
  • Avoid lots of motion in animations

Presenting with Accessibility in mind

  • Use inclusive language and representative design
  • E.g. Avoid saying “as you can see on the screen…” instead say something like “The screen shows [insert description]…”
  • Speak clearly and take pauses
  • Describe anything you are displaying on your slides that contains important information
  • Check your lighting
  • Think about any background noises
  • Keep your clothes and background plain
  • Keep adequate time for Q&A
