Denton ISD has agreements with NCTC and TWU.

Opportunity to take college courses at Guyer, on a college campus, or online.

Opportunity for students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously without an AP exam in May.

Benefits of Advanced-Level Coursework

Dual Credit

Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Credit courses are all graded on the 5.0 weighted scale.

Level Down Policy ��

A student may request a transfer from an AP/Honors class at the end of the four weeks in the first grading period of the academic school year.  However, please be aware that transfers will only be granted if the following criteria are met:

  1. the requesting student’s current grade in the AP/Honors course is below 70%
  2. space is available in the corresponding on-grade level course for credit.
  3. The requesting student has a documented history of attending tutorials for the current AP/Honors course.
  4. The AP/Honors teacher determines if all criteria have been met and forwards the Guyer High School AP/Honors Drop Form to the student and parent/guardian.

If all criteria are met, the requesting student and his or her parent/guardian must complete and submit the Guyer High School AP/Honors Drop Form within the designated timeline.

  • Discuss with parents and teachers.

  • Focus on 10th grade courses to prepare for 11th and 12th grade courses.

  • Use 11th and 12th grade boxes for planning purposes only.

  • Meet individually with your counselor in one week to ask questions and to ensure your course card is complete and accurate.

  • Ensure that you take all required or recommended electives in 10th grade to prepare for advanced courses in your program of study. The rest of the presentation will assist you with these courses.
