Demonstration

Traditional VANET Simulation and Result

We have recreate the below mentioned paper best performance protocol implementation in our simulator

G. Z. Santoso and M. Kang, “Performance analysis of aodv, dsdv and olsr in a vanets safety application

scenario,” in Advanced communication technology (ICACT), 2012 14th international conference on. IEEE, 2012, pp.

Results

G. Z. Santoso and M. Kang, “Performance analysis of aodv, dsdv and olsr in a vanets safety application

scenario,” in Advanced communication technology (ICACT), 2012 14th international conference on. IEEE, 2012, pp.

  • In the below mentioned paper they conclude AODV is the best protocol for VANETs
  • We have found out that AODV routing protocol performance is increased by using SDN comparing with above two experiments

Problems Faced

Finding best Controller was tough

Lack of resources in terms of the Current Controller

Version change in the mininet-wifi code base

Hard to integrate the Controller GUI and Mininet-wifi

Hard to find the functions of Mininet-wifi and Collaboration of the ONOS controller

Try with other controllers and find the best for the use case

Checking the Mininet-wifi Documentations and try to practice the all examples of Mininet-wifi

Negotiations with other researchers in Mininet/SDN

Checking more research papers regarding to VANET and SDN

How did we resolve

Conclusion

  • Our model has demonstrated:
    • Improved mobility and scalability for multiple access point areas
    • Better performance with the use of software-defined networking (SDN) compared to traditional VANETs
  • Our Suggestion for the Future work on this project
    • Multi-cluster environment
      • Reduced performance due to increased access point authentication time
    • Future work:
      • Implement a multi-layer SDN approach in the access point areas
      • Enhance seamless connectivity between multiple access point areas

Summary

  • Our research has shown that using a software-defined network with network routing protocols has improved the efficiency and reliability of vehicular communication.
  • Future work will focus on implementing a multi-layer SDN approach in access point areas to improve performance in multi-cluster environments.
