A report as of January 10th, 2023 (ending first trimester of Internship/Capstone Project)
Updates on my
MuED 105 internship at the
U.P. College of Music
This e-learning prototype will be the supplemental student material (self-paced and remote) to my prospective internship project. My prospective internship project is a teacher-led 3-day online workshop (synchronous) with students of MuEd 144 (Methods for Voice Class). This teacher-led 3-day online workshop is still at its hypothetical/conceptual phase. Facilitator/teacher of this workshop will be my external adviser Asst Prof Ma. Sherla Najera. Workshop will be related to the course in terms of introducing vocal jazz as a form of 21st-century commercial music to bel canto-trained singers and voice educators. This e-learning prototype available now is a self-paced, remote version of that 3-day teacher-led workshop I am envisioning.
Rationale: So far in my observation of MuEd 105 over the last 3 months, I noticed a course-related gap in terms of vocal jazz content. Hence, the need for a jazz voice workshop. The prototype so far created is a self-paced e-learning course which will be a complementary/supplementary learning material to the workshop.
1.1 Pilot-testing schedule
As per my latest conversation with the adviser Asst Prof Najera, the piloting of the prototype may happen with MuEd 110 students on their first meeting during the upcoming semester (date still tentative).
1.2 Modality of Pilot-testing
1.2.1 Students will be divided into two: One half will go through the e-learning prototype using a laptop; and the other half, a tablet/smart phone.
1.2.2 After taking the e-learning prototype workshop, students will be made to answer a user-oriented survey regarding the prototype’s content, interactivity, and usability
2. The actual prototype: An intro to vocal jazz e-workshop

Note: Please take this e-learning course not later than January 19th, 2023 as the free trial version of the software expires by then.
3. What happens next sem?
After prototyping the self-paced e-learning material with MuED 110 students, I will continue joining my adviser Asst Prof Najera in her class MuEd 144 where I will actually create and implement my actual internship project: The 3-day workshop on vocal jazz introduction to classically trained voice students/music teachers. Official ADDIE of this projected 3-day workshop will start to happen once MuEd 144 class commences next semester.
In a nutshell, my prospective instructional design project will be
3.1) a 3-day online synchronous jazz introduction workshop (1.5 hours each)
3.2) with a complementary/supplementary e-learning material for the students/workshop attendees
3.3 Pedagogical/Learning-Theory BluePrint of Projected
Vocal Jazz Introduction Workshop (still in progress)
