Honors Classes

  • Honors offered for: Math (only if you took honors math in 6th grade), ELAR, Science and US History –Math and Reading are STAAR TESTED SUBJECTS in 7th grade
  • More depth and rigor, will need to study
  • More project based
  • Major grades are weighted more heavily
  • Prepares for Honors 8th grade, Algebra, AP and Dual Credit High School classes
  • ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU ALREADY MAKE EXCELLENT GRADES IN THIS SUBJECT

Elective Choices

  • You will receive 3 electives in 7th grade. You are required to take a physical education course –either PE/ATHLETICS/TENNIS 7th grade. An elective other than physical education may be replaced by an intervention class if you do not pass Math and/or Reading STAAR in 6th grade.

  • FINE ARTS OPTIONS: Band, Choir, Jazz Band (must also take Band), Orchestra, Theater, Art
    • Students will officially be placed in Varsity and Non-Varsity classes after tryouts later in the spring. For scheduling purposes all 8th graders are placed in Varsity until tryouts.

  • WORLD LANGUAGE OPTIONS: Dual Language Spanish (must currently be in dual language program)

  • PHYSICAL EDUCATION OPTIONS: PE, Partner PE (application required), Tennis, Athletics

  • Choose one required class per subject, and then number 1-5 for each elective option you want.
    • 1 - 3 should be the electives you would like to take the most, and 4 and 5 are your alternate choices.

  • You must choose one of the physical education classes as an elective choice — place a checkmark by your choice– PE, Tennis or Athletics.

  • Take your course sheet home and review it with your guardians.

  • BRING YOUR SHEET BACK BY TOMORROW AND RETURN IT TO YOUR SCIENCE TEACHER.

  • We will make course selections in HAC TUESDAY, JANUARY 15, in the library during science classes and you will need your course selection sheet filled out for this. Counselors will collect the sheets after course selection in HAC.

ATHLETICS

FALL: Football * Volleyball * Cross Country

SPRING: Basketball * Track & Field​

Students are REQUIRED to have a Physical Exam by a doctor​ before the first day of school August 2024 in order to participate.

Students in athletics are required to try out for at least two sports in the year, a fall and a spring sport.
