The cup of coffee smells like 2007.�Like low wage paychecks�And industrial strength bathroom cleaner�And shiny new dreams.�Like aggressive drive-thru customers�Who’d let a shortage of short straws ruin their day.�Some friendships gone right.�Some friendships gone far, far away.

The aroma delivers memories in my head�As though they were cheeky tourists�Unloading at a highway rest stop.�Coming.�Going.�Coexisting for a small moment with all that happens inside.

Artist Statement:

“I’ve Got Heart” is about Keeler’s struggle with being diagnosed with lupus, while juggling work and school full time. What drove Keeler to push through and fight her hardest was her passion for helping others, especially through her chosen career in art therapy. While the heart may be a bit mangled and scarred, the love within it fuels her to keep striving towards her goals and to try her hardest to manage her physical well-being in order to prevent the loss of time to do so.
