“ Unity in Action: Rotary is Everywhere. “

Rotary International District 3410 | Rotary is everywhere

TRAINING CURRICULUM

prepared by District Training Committee Chair 2024-2025

2 of 40

3 of 40

To support the "Rotary is Everywhere" initiative, we need knowledge, skills, and experience.

MotivationWhy is training and learning in Rotary so important?

Training is a crucial element in developing leaders at the club, district, zone, and international levels.

The key to the growth and sustainability of Rotary in the district is by cultivating competent, communicative, and credible leadership.

Therefore, District Governor 2024-2025 Daniel Iman Surjadi has initiated an innovative training approach.

4 of 40

ExplanationWhat approach will be taken to ensure that more Rotary members in District 3410 gain knowledge, skills, and experience about Rotary to support the "Rotary is Everywhere" initiative?

  • Designing a training curriculum sourced from Rotary International to ensure the preservation of Rotary's core values, while selecting and tailoring materials relevant to the conditions in District 3410.
  • Implementing the "Learn and Share" training method and Adult Learning approach, where everyone involved in the training activities, including participants, speakers, and facilitators, are in a position to learn together and share knowledge, skills, and experiences. All aspects of the training process will be centered around meeting the needs of the training participants (participant-centered approach).
  • Preparing mobile-based training tools to facilitate training participants in accessing training materials, references, training schedules, registration processes, and all the information supporting the training process. By applying the principles of accessibility, flexibility, and capability through the WAG Studio and WAG Toolkit facilities.

5 of 40

  • Conducting training sessions that are packaged as engaging as possible, eliminating any sense of stiffness to encourage the creation of a constructive, warm, and fun discussion environment because we believe that all participants are trainers for each other. "The Power of Sharing.“

  • Conducting evaluations for each training session, particularly evaluations performed by training participants, as the basis for our development in subsequent training sessions.

  • “Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn.” - Benjamin Franklin

6 of 40

PurposeWhat will be gained from the Learning Team program?

  • Greater knowledge and understanding of Rotary's operations and organization, which supports the "Rotary is Everywhere" initiative.
  • More competent, efficient, and effective Rotary leadership.
  • Enhanced knowledge of Rotary programs and achievements that support the vision of "Rotary is Everywhere."
  • Personal development of Rotary leaders.

District Team Training Seminar

Incoming district leaders learn about their roles and set goals together. This is an opportunity to motivate the entire district team for the year ahead.

This seminar is intended for assistant governors, district committee chairs, and other district leaders. Be sure to include Rotaractors who have been appointed to committees.

Hold your event before the presidents-elect training seminar (PETS), in February or March

of the year before the one when the seminar participants will serve in their roles. The seminar can be a half-day or full-day event

Consider holding sessions on: Roles and responsibilities Setting goals

District and Rotary resources Supporting clubs

Teamwork

Aim to provide a mix of presentations, facilitated discussions, practice activities, brainstorming, and more.

2

President-elect Training Seminar

Participants learn about their roles and how to work with the district's assistant governors to set goals and build relationships

This seminar is intended for club presidents-elect, but if any of them can't attend, the governor- elect can allow a substitute to take part. Invite Rotaract club presidents-elect, too, to build relationships with your partners in service.

Hold this seminar in February or March of the year before the one when the seminar participants will serve as president. It should be after the district team training seminar, but before the district training assembly. The seminar should last one and a half to two days.

Most PETS include sessions on: Planning the year as president Presiding over club meetings Leading volunteers

Attracting and engaging members and participants Managing club administration tasks

Work closely with assistant governors and past district governors to develop an effective program. Consider adding breakout sessions and general sessions that address local opportunities and challenges to provide a complete training experience.

This event is intended for the club presidents, secretaries, treasurers, and committee chairs who will serve during the coming Rotary year.

This is the last major training event of the governor-elect's year. Make it a half-day or full- day event in April or May.

Develop an agenda that includes general and breakout sessions on:
