3rd miracle in John : the healing at Bethesda

John 5 : 1 – 9

26 of 47

26

John 5:1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now in Jerusalem, by the Sheep Gate, there is a pool which in Hebrew is called Bethesda, having five porticoes. 3 In these porticoes lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, limping, or paralyzed.

27 of 47

27

John 5:5 Now a man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6 Jesus, upon seeing this man lying there and knowing that he had already been in that condition for a long time, said to him, “Do you want to get well?”

28 of 47

28

John 5:7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.” 9 Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk.

Now it was a Sabbath on that day.

29

John 5:1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now in Jerusalem, by the Sheep Gate, there is a pool which in Hebrew is called Bethesda, having five porticoes.

The meaning of Bethesda is House of Grace

A place where God pours out His grace

30 of 47

30

John 5:3 In these porticoes lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, limping, or paralyzed. 5 Now a man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.

Despite that Bethesda is a place of God’s grace, there is a man who has been ill for 38 years

(almost whole life long)

What went wrong ?

31 of 47

31

John 5:6 Jesus, upon seeing this man lying there and knowing that he had already been in that condition for a long time, said to him, “Do you want to get well?”

The sick man was in a low position

Just like a weak little child

32 of 47

32

John 5:6 Jesus, upon seeing this man lying there and knowing that he had already been in that condition for a long time, said to him, “Do you want to get well?”

Jesus asked the man whether

he wanted to become well;

strong like an adult

33 of 47

33

John 5:7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

The man acknowledged that

he used to blame himself

34 of 47

34

John 5:7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

The man acknowledged that

he used to blame others

35 of 47

35

A man who is still drowning in the seas of religion,

likes to blame himself, and others

for his problems in life

36 of 47

36

John 5:8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.” 9 Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was a Sabbath on that day.

Jesus made the man

able to rise, walk and carry the pallet

Like an adult

37 of 47

37

John 5:9 Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was a Sabbath on that day.

Now that the man has become well,

he stopped blaming himself and others

38 of 47

38

John 5:9 Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was a Sabbath on that day.

Sabbath has come to the man

God’s sanctification and blessings have come to the man

39 of 47

39

God blessed us in His kingdom of heaven

So that we will not blame ourselves and others

for the problems in our life

40 of 47

40

The 3rd miracle in John :

Jesus made an ill man, who was weak like a little child,

to become strong like a man

Able to rise, walk and be strong

41 of 47

41

God’s creation in day 3

God sanctifies and blesses us in His kingdom of heaven

So that we can forgive ourselves and others

and we can stop blaming ourselves and others

And grow from weak little children to become strong man

42 of 47

2 Pet 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

Now we are in the year 2025

We are just entering day 3, when the world will be blessed by God’s kingdom of heaven

Mat 24:14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

44 of 47

44

We are approaching the end time
