My quote:

“...because we are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be...We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are.”

Meaning/why I chose.

This is the main character’s realization after something very difficult happens to him. He is referencing the notion that adults have that teenagers think they are indestructible. He is trying to prove that they ARE , indeed, indestructible. Terrible things happen in our lives, but we have the ability to get through them. He believes there are forces greater than ourselves and that we will always be, therefore we cannot fail.

I chose this quote because it took the main character, Pudge, quite a while to come to this realization. He has grown tremendously since the beginning of the book and, through the help of some key characters, has found himself and confidence.
