Background

MIFF, the oldest and largest film festival dedicated to documentary, short fiction, and animation films in South Asia.

Established in 1990 (initially as the Bombay International Film Festival), MIFF has grown into a vibrant platform showcasing the finest works by Indian and international filmmakers.

Organized biennially, by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and executed by its nodal agency, National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

Most deserving documentaries, shorts films, and animations are then awarded the coveted Golden Conch and Silver Conch, along with trophies and cash prizes.

Adele Seelmann-Eggebert is a German film producer known for her work on movies like "Das weiße Rauschen" (2001), "Musik hat ihn kaputt gemacht" (2000) and "Alles auf die Siebzehn" (1999).

Dr. Bobby Sarma Baruah is an award-winning Indian filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. Her films focus on socio-cultural issues in Assam and Northeast India.

Munjal is a co-founder of Graphiti Multimedia. He is a leader in the Indian animation industry, having served on government committees and FICCI's Animation forum. His work includes popular children's shows like Krish, Trish and Baltiboy.

Apoorva Bakshi is an International EMMY Award-winning producer, known for DELHI CRIME, THE HUNT FOR VEERAPPAN; WOMB; National Award-winning films, SHUT UP SONA

A Venue For All - Accessibility at MIFF

NFDC aims to make the MIFF venue accessible for all the cinephiles, making it disabled-friendly through structural and logistic changes and identifying the best practices for accessibility standards.

Partner - Svayam, a not-for-profit organization

For the first time, the entire festival team will be sensitised and trained to ensure a culture of inclusivity and empathy.

This will not only enhance the accessibility of MIFF 2024 but will also set a benchmark for future events.

Opening & Closing Ceremonies

Grand Opening & Closing ceremonies will be held at NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

Cultural Performances which will include

  • Act depicting the Journey of Indian Animation,
  • Cultural performance from Sri-Lanka in opening and from Argentina in closing ceremony
  • Screening of “Sunflowers Were The First Ones to Know”, a short film by FTII student and winner of the ‘La Cinef’ Award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival this year

  • 10 Gala premiere screenings planned in Mumbai
  • Gala Red carpet will be held in NFDC-FD complex in Mumbai every day starting from the opening film on 15th June with Film Celebrities & Dignitaries
  • Exclusive Gala Red carpets will also be held at Delhi (17th June), Chennai (18th June), Kolkata (19th June) & Pune (20th June) with participation from eminent personalities from the film industry.

- The Delegate Registrations are simple but mandatory for attending the festival through the website or the QR code provided in promotional material of MIFF.
