Sora and Snap&Read
This slide deck includes directions for
using Sora with Snap&Read.

Ann Arbor Public Schools owns both a Sora eBook collection and a subscription to the Snap&Read extension.
Snap&Read Features
Download Extension
You will need to download the extension from the chrome store.
Then click on your extensions and log into Snap&Read using your AAPS google login.
You can pin the extension to your browser toolbar.

The tool bar will always be on the right edge of the browser window. I am also logged into Sora.
Text to Speech
Open an eBook in Sora in single page view.
Then click in the center of the page so the menus disappear.

Click on the selection tool in the Snap&Read toolbar.

You need to select the text you would like to have read aloud, translated or simplified.
First click in upper left-hand corner.
Then lower right-hand corner.
Text to Speech
Now click on the speaker icon for text to speech. Wait a moment, it may default to automatically beginning to read the text. Click on the speaker again to stop the reading aloud.
You can change the voice, speed and volume in your Snap&Read settings.
Translate
While the section is still selected, click on the translate icon.
You can change the language in your Snap&Read settings.
Simplify Text
While the section is still selected, click on the simplify icon.
You can change how much it simplifies in your Snap&Read settings.
Change Your Settings
If you pinned the extension to your toolbar, click on Snap&Read and then choose Options.

Or, click on the extensions icon, then click on the dots to the right of Snap&Read.
Then choose Options.

You can adjust any of your settings.
You can turn off the way it automatically reads aloud after you select a section here.
