NISD Goals for the Gifted and Talented Student

Nominations

Nominations for the GT program at NMS can be made by a parent or teacher at any time during the fall semester. Nominations close December 16th. In order to nominate a student just email one of the counselors at the links below. Students will be tested during the spring semester and parents will be notified of the results.

How Students Are serviced

  • GT students are served through extension activities in the general education classroom.

  • All classroom teachers are GT Certified.

  • GT students create and present two projects per school year over topics that challenge and interest them.

  • GT students will also have access to Maker Space.

  • NNAT 2 - Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test

  • Teachers routinely implement GT strategies in their daily curriculum.

  • All content area teachers are GT Certified.

  • GT students are challenged to use higher level thinking skills and produce more in-depth results.

  • This project is available for 6th grade students, as one of their semester projects.
  • The administration team along with the counselors will divide the students up into groups.
  • Students will take responsibility for planning and creating a news broadcast for the campus.
