Your Distance Learning Best Practice/Resource:
Efforts to build relationships to help ensure that students enter the learning space ready to learn (e.g., the secret code, the daily compliment)
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #2: Phillip James
Applying for the rural tech project, funded by CDE to promote technology integration. Also SINED as a source of curriculum/content for HS students. Designed as a distance learning approach with rural areas in mind
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #3: Sophia
LAUSD #EmpoweredbyITI Videos
Created bite-sized how-to videos for educators, not only technological approaches, but also leveraging features for pedagogical approaches and meeting SEL needs. Had 6 in the first month, have continued to build. Videos live on the district’s ITI website and its YouTube channel

Best Practice/Resource from Partner #1: Lauren
Daniel Stanford’s Bandwidth/ Immediacy Matrix
For example, districts had a requirement that student cameras were on, but bandwidth limitations and instabilities often prevents access to teaching & learning. Idea is to find a balance between high/low bandwidth activities and synchronous/asynchronous activities. Helps to address equity issues while also giving teachers low-burden supports to help them with teaching.

Your Distance Learning Best Practice/Resource:
-multiple lines of communication for both students and parents (learning management systems, whatsapp, google groups, school-wide emails, etc.) so that people can access information, resources, zoom links, etc. more easily regardless of socioeconomic status or preferred communication styles
-my son loves go noodle videos
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #2:
Lauren Aranguren:
Band Width
use in teacher PD, schools, districts - have equity conversations about different levels of access to bandwidth and how that impacts student learning - understanding how immediate and not-immediate learning can serve different needs (important to have mix of synch and asynch learning - balance low and high bandwidth activities)
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #3:
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #1:
Philip James:
-rural tech project through CDE - talking to local colleges and IT resources to think about info tec CS realm - looking at SYNED online curriculum for content and hope to collaborate with local colleges to act as feeder for HS students to get into IT field

Your Distance Learning Best Practice/Resource:
“Despite this being on a virtual platform this is still teaching and learning. Teachers present, students ask questions, work with the content and teachers assess.”
Paraphrased from a teacher friend when she was giving a training to teachers on Google Classroom
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #2: Roxanna
Inclusion activities and reflection
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #3: Heidi Baynes
Less is more. Choosing a few tools that are vetted and approved by the district can facilitate learning from a distance. Collaborate with other instructors to divide the workload so that you are not tasked with creating a ton of new materials.
Best Practice/Resource from Partner #1: Sophia Mendoza
The #EmpoweredByITI video collection are short, focused videos designed by ITI instructional technology facilitators with the goal of demonstrating instructionally rigorous ways of using digital tools and resources.
