A note from Carly Spina

Dear Teachers,

Our newcomer students deserve a lot of support, and kids are usually eager to offer help, but they don’t always know how. This presentation can guide a conversation for your students. It’s good for students to have some tools so that they might feel a little more comfortable and equipped with ways to help new students. This is also a great time to have conversations with your students about linguistic inclusivity, recognizing that all of our languages are beautiful. I encourage you to Make a Copy & edit this to meet your needs, but I hope this can be a helpful place to start. Please note that there are Talking Points in the Notes section under each slide.

Am I missing the mark on something? Feedback is always welcome. Please email me at carlymspina@gmail.com. Thanks! Good luck to you & your students! They are lucky to have you.
