Principal’s Note
June - A busy month but a most enjoyable month!
Students will be busy finishing up curriculum objectives with their class assignments / projects and final exams for Junior High later in June. Parents who give permission to Junior High students to leave the school after their exams are free to do so at 11:00 am on those exam dates. Best of luck to all students writing those final exams and writing the government PATs.
I am hoping all parents are finding the Parent Portal easier to use as we get used to it. It is kinda the sign of the times with school payments and signatures for various school activities. Please give the school a shout and Bev, our Admin. Assistant, can help you out if you have questions or need tips as it relates to the Parent Portal.
For those parents that have helped out with driving for our athletic teams this year, I greatly appreciate your dedication for our teams. The cost would have to be greatly increased if we had to bus to and from every game with each sport. Once again thank you for helping out and enjoying our Clive athletic teams in action.
I have also seen many parents volunteer their time with our hot lunch program throughout the year. This is another unique opportunity many schools do not have with a weekly hot lunch program. I know I appreciate not making my own lunch on Thursday and I bet you feel the same. So thanks again to the hot lunch volunteers.

Dear Parents and Students,
The yearbook team has worked hard over the year creating a yearbook that will include special memories for all students, with individual photographs, candid shots of individuals and groups, staff members, and many special event pages. Yearbook orders will be available next week on Parent Portal. The cost is still to be determined but should be between $20-25 for the 74 page yearbook. The deadline to order will be Tuesday, June 6. Yearbooks will be distributed at the end of June if printed on time, otherwise students will get them in the fall.

CWAJHAA Champs!
Bella S and Gemma B won gold at the CWAJHAA competition in Red Deer, and Harley B and Ashley G won bronze as a Rainn Graves. Congratulations!
A Highly Successful Badminton Season
We have concluded our 2023 Badminton season at Clive School. The players have committed their time to improve their skill level and have pushed each other in practice to be better players! We had two preliminary tournaments where all players participated in games against other Wolf Creek schools. We then had our first official competition during the Wolf Creek East Playdowns. From there many players moved on (top four in every category) to the Wolf Creek Championship. At this tournament the players earned a WC banner! We had many teams medal at this tournament which was outstanding for the size of our Junior High. We then took our players, who were in the top two in each category, to CWAHJAA's in Red Deer. At this tournament all teams performed very well and represented our school in an excellent fashion.
A huge shoutout to our coaches: Mrs. Sim, Mr. Morrison, Mr. Wojtaczka and Mrs. Turnbull!

NOW OPEN for 2023-24!!!!
Online registration is now open for the 2023 - 24 Kindergarten school year. Our program runs full days on Tuesdays and Thursdays with one extra day (usually a Friday) each month.
EARLY REGISTRATIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

Notice for Parents & Guardians
The Government of Canada is offering the interim Canada Dental Benefit is intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year.
Parents and guardians can apply if the child receiving dental care is under 12 years old and does not have access to a private dental insurance plan.
Depending on your adjusted family net income, a tax-free payment of $260, $390, or $650 is available for each eligible child.
This interim dental benefit is only available for 2 periods. You can get a maximum of 2 payments for each eligible child. Benefit payments are administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
The first benefit period is for children under 12 years old as of December 1, 2022 who receive dental care between October 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

Hot Lunch Volunteers
Clive School Council is seeking volunteers to help with distributing hot lunch. This year we are focusing on recruiting helpers from different classrooms. If you are able to help, please contact your child’s teacher.

A Vulnerable Sector Check is NOT required to help with hot lunch; however, we do need to have the annual Wolf Creek Public Schools volunteer forms on file: click HERE and HERE to access the required forms, or call the school office (403-784-3354) to have forms sent home with your child.
Hot Lunch Program
All the proceeds from hot lunch sales support Clive School students in various ways. Thank you to our staff for organizing hot lunch in Sept and June, and to our School Council (especially Robyn Schweer and Jolyn Dobinson) for the work they do to organize hot lunch from November through May!

Absent or late students:
Automated phone calls go out at 9 am (for morning classes) and 1:15 pm (for afternoon classes) on all student absences, when we don’t know the reason for the absence.
Parents: please remember to call or email the school if your child is going to be absent or arrive late for morning and/or afternoon classes.
Late students must check in at the office so that their attendance can be updated.
School Volunteer Information
School Volunteers Package:
Please complete the Volunteer Application form (Form 490-1) and the Criminal Record Declaration form (Form 490-2) and return these to the school, along with your Vulnerable Sector check (if applicable). Volunteer Application forms are required each year that you volunteer at the school.
If we do not have a Vulnerable sector check on file for you at the school (these are valid for 3 years from date of issue), present Form 490-3 to your local police agency so that they can complete a Vulnerable Sector check for you at no cost to you.
Volunteer Drivers:
Complete the Volunteer Driver Authorization form (Form 565-1) and return it to the school office. As well, a copy of insurance showing $2 million liability is required. You can have your insurance company send that directly to the school office by fax or email.

Student Medical Considerations
Parents, if there are any medical concerns that emerge throughout the school year, please contact the school office to get that information updated right away. Please be sure to discuss any medical concerns with your child’s teacher.

Alberta Health Services is pleased to share that we have launched a new advice and guidance line for parents, guardians and caregivers of children and youth (birth to 18 years of age) with concerns about their child’s development and well-being.The Pediatric Rehabilitation Line provides advice about developmental milestones in areas such as:
· Moving and playing (e.g., crawling, coordination, playing with toys)
· Talking and listening (e.g., babbling, understanding directions, stuttering)
· Taking care of self (e.g., dressing, toileting, sleeping)
· Managing emotions (e.g., calming self, becoming overwhelmed or overstimulated)
· Difficulty eating or swallowing (e.g., coughing, gagging)
· Hearing (e.g., responding to sounds, noise, voices, words)
· Are recovering from COVID-19
· Are looking for current rehabilitation resources (e.g., links to information or webinars)
· Are looking for help to find local services
How to connect
This Alberta-only line is answered by Allied Health clinicians and operates Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents, guardians and caregivers can call 811 or the Rehabilitation Advice Line (1-833-379-0563) to be prompted to the Pediatric Rehabilitation Line.
