Rainwater collection systems plan an important role in protecting water resources and transferring them to future generations.

KADIKÖY DAM

• Kadıköy Dam is one of the important water resources in the region.And provides irrigation water.During the summer months,the water rate in this dam dropped to 6 per cent .But the current occupancy rate has risen up to 33 per cent.

WATER PROBLEM AT SAZLIDERE DAM

The occupancy rate of Sazlıdere Dam,which was %40.75 in November last year,was measured as %2.29 on the same date this year.And because of this lack of water, water could’nt be drawn to the facilities.There was a danger of engine failure.However, according to January 2024 data,the dam’s accupancy rate was measured as 45.5 percent.

WATER PROBLEM İN ALTINYAZI DAM

• The occupancy rate in Altınyazı Dam dropped to -1 last summer.People living in the region had to suspend their agricultural work.Due to this drought in the dam, water was transferred from Meriç River to Altınyazı Dam for the first time in 20 years.

WATER PROBLEM AT NAİP DAM

• In Naip Dam,which provides drinking water in Süleymanpaşa district,the water rate dropped to %8 last summer.As a solution to this water problem,permits were obtained from transport routes,agricultural lands and near the protected area. And the production of 3 thousand 175 metres long HDPE line pipe was completed by TESKİ teams.Thanks to this,the water problem was solved.

WATER POLLUTİON İN THE ERGENE RİVER

• Today, it is heavily polluted by industrial plants,urban and domestic wastes and artificial fertilisers and pesticides used in agricultural.And in order to reduce this pollution, the waters of the river are treated at an advanced level and discharged into the Marmara Sea.

POLLUTİON PROBLEM İN GALA LAKE

• Gala Lake is an important lake that should be protected due to its ecological characteristics and because it is an important area for paddy cultivation.However,it has been threatened by rice farming practices and anthropogenic pressures in its vicinity.

PRESENCE OF HEAVY METALS İN THE WATER SUPPLY FEEDİNG THE LAKE

• Heavy metal analyses were performed on soil samples taken from 15 different locations around Gala Lake.Chromium,Cobalt and Nickel levels were found to be high,creating a pollution hazard..

WATER MONKEYS

• Another cause of pollution , Gala Lake is water monkeys.Water monkeys nibble the reeds around the lake,causing pollution in the lake and causing the reeds in the lake to dry up.

• There are no problems with Bulgaria and Greece,which border the Meriç River.But the problem of flooding and pollution is a major problem.These problems also cause erosion.

• Natural gas was being transported from Qatar to Europe.For this reason,algae was spilled when the natural gas line was laid in Saroz Bay.And this caused a lot of water pollution.
