What are superconductors ?

Superconductors are materials that can conduct electricity with no resistance, provided their temperatures are kept extremely low.

Why are they useful

?

Superconductors can conduct electricity without any heat waste. Superconductors can be used to make very powerful electromagnets possible, which are used in magnetic resonance imaging machines. Since superconductors have no resistance, they are extremely sensitive to electrical currents, meaning that they can conduct electricity very well.

What are the technological problems with them ?

Superconductors can only superconduct when their temperature is kept low enough. Usually this temperature is much under -100 degrees celsius.
