What are Universities looking for from the school a student comes?

Strength of Curriculum: They are looking for… rigor of classes, quality of education, scope & sequence
Grades: individual grades vs GPA, GPA is NOT comparable across schools and school districts!!! Universities KNOW this.
Test Scores: ACT, PSAT, SAT, CLT…our students consistently score well above the national average
Essays: admissions & scholarships - our students have such in depth writing instruction and have highly developed writing skills, they consistently write better quality essays AND with less students enrolled, they receive more one-on-one assistance in crafting these essays
Recommendations: because we are a smaller school, our teacher KNOW our students personally and vice versa. Our teachers write personalized letters for our students…more importantly, our teachers guide and counsel our students as they navigate college/career choices.
Leadership: our school promotes and empowers students to lead, while it isn’t the goal…it does look impressive to a university
Social Responsibility/Service: colleges are looking for students who function beyond academics - what social and cultural impact will this student have? This is intricately woven into who we are as FCA. We do it because we are creating exceptional human beings, NOT for a college transcript BUT it does make an impression
