UC Undergraduate Student Government

• Undergraduate Student Government is the official representative of all undergraduate students attending the University of Cincinnati. Serving as the primary representative organization of the undergraduate student body, Student Government seeks to act as a liaison between the University administration, governmental authorities, and the student body in order to serve the needs of Bearcats and enhance the student experience at the University of Cincinnati. The University of Cincinnati Undergraduate Student Government is made up of three branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial.

• From CCM/CCM Garage, Exit Mary Emory Hall near CCM Starbucks. Cross the bridge heading west to enter University Pavilion on the second floor. Continue around OneStop Student Services towards the dual elevators and enter Suite 210.
• From Tangeman University Center (TUC). From Main St. travel south in front of the west entrance to TUC and enter the north entrance to University Pavilion, on the second floor. Head to the right, past the stairs leading up to enter Suite 210.
• From McMicken Hall, Dyer/Teacher's Hall, Enter the west entrance to University Pavilion on the third floor. Head straight ahead then turn right to access the dual elevators, or alternatively take the stairs directly to your left down one floor to the second floor of University Pavilion. From the elevators turn immediately to your left to enter Suite 210; from the main stairs turn right and continue past the dual elevators to enter suite 210.

What is the University Honors Program?

UC Counseling and Psychological Services ARISE Program

• Students and members of the UC community concerned about students have access to mental health crisis care and consultation 24 hours a day 7 days a week. • The UC Bearcats Pantry provides:

Nightride

• NightRide, a program within the University of Cincinnati's Public Safety Department, provides on-demand safe transportation for students, staff and faculty within one mile of UC's main campus. In addition, the students who drive NightRide vans serve as extra eyes and ears for law enforcement.

UC Bike Share

• Bicycles can be checked out, at no cost, to anyone with a UCID at the UC Bike Kitchen for up to one week at a time!
• The Bike Kitchen is a free service provided to the community by the Office of Sustainability at UC. The Bike Kitchen seeks to promote bicycle culture, safety, and accessibility as a sustainable form of transportation that builds community and fosters healthy lifestyles. The Bike Kitchen offers repair services, tune-ups, and workshops for free to the community.

Bicycle Registration

• All students, staff and faculty at the University of Cincinnati are asked to register their bicycle with the Department of Public Safety. Information collected during the registration process is entered into a database and used to identify the bicycle in case of theft.

Zip Car

• Need a car?  Borrow a Zipcar!  UC has partnered with Zipcar to bring self-service, on-demand car sharing to the area.  To use Zipcars, simply register as a member, reserve a car online or by phone, use your Zipcard to enter the car, and drive away.  Return the car to the same location where you picked it up.

• Access to Zipcars 24/7.
• Discounted hourly rates for UC faculty, staff, and students age 18 and older: rates start at just $7 per hour.
• Gas, insurance, and maintenance are included free!
• Join for only $25 a year and receive $35 in driving credit your first month.

RedBike

• Red Bike is Cincinnati’s most fun system of public transportation. A bike sharing system consisting of 59 stations and over 500 bikes, Red Bike is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving community by providing a low-cost, healthy, and green transportation option that makes Greater Cincinnati a more vibrant and connected community.

• The UC*Metro EZ Ride program allows members of the UC community to take local bus transportation at a substantial discount.

Bearcat Guardian App

• Bearcat Guardian is a state-of-the-art safety app that allows you to turn your cell phone into a safety device. It works on any mobile phone running on any US-based mobile carrier network.

• More than 280 blue help phones are strategically placed around UCs campuses and in campus garages. The phones connect to dispatchers in UCs 911 Communications Center. They can be used for emergency and non-emergency needs.

Safe Apartment Program

The Dean of Students utilizes one room within a residence hall to offer as a safe apartment for students who are in crisis and in need of emergency housing. The safe apartment is in a very confidential location.

Emergency Funding

• The University of Cincinnati Student Emergency Fund (SEF) allows students the opportunity to apply for an emergency financial assistance grant who are experiencing an unanticipated and/or temporary hardship resulting from an emergency and/or crisis situation. Approved grants do not need to be repaid and students may not receive an SEF grant more than once per academic year. All SEF applications are typically limited to $500.00. Special circumstances may be approved for funds exceeding $500.00.

• The Bearcat Emergency Fund (BEF) is a partnership between the Division of Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Office of the Bursar. The BEF is designed to provide assistance with unexpected emergency expenses surrounding situations such as accidents, illness, death of a family member, fire damage, medical deductible, or need for temporary housing or food. Students may apply for funds when they have exhausted all other resources. The application will ask for details on how the expenses were unanticipated and why the student is unable to meet the expense. This funding is not intended to replace or supplement existing financial aid.

IPALs – Student Organization

• The IPALs are UC International’s student presence on campus. We are a student group consisting of international and domestic students at UC that assist the international student population with acculturation in America. Through events, workshops, and meet-ups, students have a chance to make new friends, learn about life at UC, and share their culture with one another. IPALs typically are interested in travel, meeting people from other countries, and learning about international issues from people who are different than them.

iCats - Student Organization

• iCats assists International students in Acclimation to American Culture and enable American students to access the knowledge and worldview of International students. We promote cultural education and social acceptance while providing a Certificate of Cultural Awareness to students that complete our Cultural Development Program.

• iCats program offerings:

1. Cultural Workshops: Workshops taught by iCats members to teach other members about the world's cultures. Application activities: activities within the workshops in which you can experience newly learned concepts first-hand.

2. Team-oriented social events: Team leaders create social situations for international and domestic students to interact.

3. Academic and Professional Events: Company visits, and professional speaking events related to intentional academics and business.

• The Cultural Development Program (CDP) will include the original aspects of the team's structure while also adding a series of workshops to teach members about culture. These workshops will focus on many of the predominant world cultures.
• In these workshops, the students will learn many aspects of culture including religion, food, norms and customs, business practices, useful words and phrases, art and recreation, and geography. These workshops will be taught by international students, university faculty, and international professionals from around Cincinnati.
• Workshops will be biweekly on Monday nights from 7-9pm.
• The Cultural Development Program will select the top domestic and international students to participate. The program will last for the entire first academic year of all members’ collegiate experience.
• Upon completion of the program, all students who pass the program will be awarded a certificate of graduation from the program. This will signify that the student has a strong understanding of culture and is ready to enter the global workforce.
