Problem Statement
Relevance
Addressing teenage social media addiction is of paramount relevance today. It directly affects the well-being and future prospects of our youth. It influences their mental health, academic performance, and personal relationships. This calls for urgent awareness and intervention in this issue.
My project focuses on the pervasive issue of social media addiction, defined as excessive and compulsive use of social media platforms. By addressing this issue, my project aims to help teenagers lead healthy, more balanced lives and participate in the digital world in a responsible way, setting them up for success.
Context
Social media is use is increasing with availability of internet. In the context of Nepal, social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram are increasingly used for connecting with others and getting information. However, these platforms are addictive and often also abused (spread of misinformation, bullying). Notably, young people use social media excessively and are at risk.
