Stream

  • If you don’t want to be on stream, tell us. A lot of tournaments are streamed so consider this exposure therapy.
  • Before your match, you’ll state your goals on stream.
  • During your match, others can commentate.
  • After your match, you will have your feedback discussion on stream.
  • Try to keep cursing to a minimum so we don’t get in trouble.
  • Don’t say anything that would imply sponsorship/official status.

How to give Good Feedback

  1. Options for feedback:
    1. Ask what, how, why about something that happened
    2. Keep doing x and y. Stop doing z.
  2. Be specific. Pick an aspect to focus on.
    • Nah: Learn the game.
    • Yeah: Watch a character guide to learn your character’s game plan.
  3. Give actionable suggestions.
    • Nah: Stop getting comboed.
    • Yeah: You kept getting comboed because you were pressing buttons. Slow down, don’t mash.
  4. Ask for elaboration!
    • Work on blocking
      1. “Can you explain how I can learn to block better?”

FAQ

  1. How are you determining who is a professional and who is an amateur?
    1. We are having players self determine their seeding
  2. What if only amateurs show up for a game and it ends up being the blind leading the blind?
    • We can either refund the money or still do the college. We can decide as a group.
  3. How do I disconnect my PS4 controller?
    • Press PS button on the controller → Settings → Devices → Turn off Devices
    • Make sure to fully disconnect (not just turn off) the controller to avoid accidental reconnects.
  4. Can I bring a setup?
    • Yes, bring everything. Console, monitor, cords, etc. You’ll get $5 off for each setup if you’re one of the first 5 with a setup to show up! It must be either a playstation or xbox console, no PCs.
  5. Do I need to be a college student?
    • No. The name is purely thematic to explain what we are doing.
  6. Can I sign up for multiple games?
    • You can sign up for 2. They each cost $5. You will switch to the other game around 8:30pm.
