In 1998, Judge Navanethem Pillay of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda said:

RAPE

    • The definition of rape varies both in different parts of the world and at different times in history
    • At some places the term "rape" is replaced now by terms such as "sexual assault" or "criminal sexual conduct“
    • Rape is a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person's consent.

In the United States, the 1962 Model Penal Code defined rape as "A male who has sexual intercourse with a female not his wife is guilty of rape if:(a) he compels her to submit by force or by threat of imminent death, serious bodily injury, extreme pain or kidnapping, to be inflicted on anyone; or (b) he has substantially impaired her power to appraise or control her conduct by administering or employing without her knowledge drugs, intoxicants or other means for the purpose of preventing resistance; or (c) the female is unconscious; or (d) the female is less than 10 years old."

      • FBI (USA) 1927 "The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.“Considered outdated and narrow in 2012
      • FBI(USA) 2012 "The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim”.
      • The World Health Organization defined it in 2002 as "physically forced or otherwise coerced penetration – even if slight – of the vulva or anus, using a penis, other body parts or an object“

Section 509 IPC

          • In nubile virgins one or more lacerations may be present with redness, oedema and some bleeding on touch if act committed within two days.   • This is natural sexual intercourse between persons who are related by blood or marriage so closely that marriage between them is prohibited under law

  • Cunnilingus(cunnus ‘vulva’+ lingere ‘lick’) Stimulation of female genitalia using tongue or lip

  • It is sexual intercourse with domestic animals and birds and is punishable U/S 377 of IPC
  • Though reported also in women, it is more commonly done by adolescent boys and men in villages who are keeping animals

  • Animals chosen are those commonly available like she-goat, ducks, hens, buffalo, she-ass, cow, bitch, cat
