Our team analyzed the video game dataset to investigate the correlation between average critic score and average total sales by publisher

Level 1: Data Wrangling

  • Imported CSV file to JupyterLab then, imported math, numpy, and pandas, and matplotlib packages
  • Obtained just the year of release date for every row
  • Remove the release date column and then added a new “release date” column
  • Replaced the “nan” element with “0” string in TS column and rows
  • Removed “m,” that stands for million from stings in TS
  • Changing string type in TS to float types

Level 4: Conclusion

  • Figure out how to data wrangle
  • Had a hard time getting rid of “nan” element
  • Figuring out how to remove the “m” in the total sales column
  • 0ne of the most successful video games in 90’s influenced by critic score are Guitar Hero (RedOctane) and in the 2000’s Grand Theft (Rockstar Games)

Future goal:

Create a growth model to predict future top 10 video game publishers based on average total sales and critic score
