Be respectful. Be responsible. Be successful. Let’s start each day with a smile, a growth mindset, and a positive attitude.

Work habits and behavior are based on mutual courtesy, respect, and a desire to learn. Students have the right to learn, and teachers have the right to teach. Three simple principles that encourage responsibility in the classroom are:
As the teachers, we will follow a positive discipline plan that maximizes time on task by offering incentives of positive reinforcement and preferred activity time to responsible students.
In regards to other school rules and behavior, we will follow policies outlined in the provided student planner. See student planner for more details.
It is not necessary to purchase the additional items, but the above items have been helpful for students in 8th grade.
All work that you submit must be your own work. You may not do any of the following:
If students do any of the above or anything else that constitutes cheating/plagiarizing, students will be given a ZERO for the assignment, and will be referred for discipline.

Cell phones are required to be in their backpacks during class instruction on airplane mode. We ask this so students will not be distracted with their phones during class time. We will follow EIS consequences for misuse of cell phone found in the planner.
Late work is accepted. Work that is turned in late will receive partial credit. Work that is more than one week late may not be accepted. This policy can be adjusted for extenuating circumstances or specific student situations.
Students cannot have any earbuds or airpods in during class time, unless instructed to by the teacher. Students cannot listen to music on their phones while working independently, as it is a distraction. If a repeated offense, the earbuds will be confiscated.
It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to find out what was missed when absent. Students can check the teacher website, Google Classroom, Aeries, ask a friend, or speak with the teacher during lunch or after school. Student’s have as many days as absent to make up the work. For example, a student is absent 2 days; the student has 2 days to make up the work before points deducted for being late.

Parent Visitation
Parents/Guardians must check in with the office prior to visiting a physical classroom or meeting with a teacher. The office will issue you a Visitor’s Pass which will allow you to walk on campus. If you are seen without the pass, you will be stopped, and asked to return to the office. Student and staff safety is of the utmost importance. For this reason, make sure to check-in with the office at any time in the day, even if school session is over. Also, you must make sure you have an appointment to meet with a teacher before the visitation. There are occasions when a teacher does not have the time to meet with a parent without an appointment time due to staff meetings, other parent meetings, etc. So please confirm a date and time with the teacher prior to visiting. If you would like to speak to the teacher over the phone, please contact the teacher after 2:30 pm. Email communication seems to work the best if you are looking for immediate feedback to a question or if you need to address a concern.

Google Classroom Guardian Summaries
Guardians can receive Google Classroom summaries of their students progress in the Google Classroom. We will sign you up and you will receive an email. In that email click “Accept.” You can choose the frequency of the emails: daily or weekly. The summaries include: missing work, upcoming work, & class activity. Many assignments are posted in Google Classroom so this is a great tool to see your students work on this platform. Please write neatly which email you’d like us to use in order to set it up.
