  • Using School Email (sandi.net)
  • Press on the icon with your first name initial
    • Select “Your Channel”

Using Screencastify extension to Upload Videos

  • Free Google Chrome extension that records what is on the screen
  • Also has option of connecting a microphone for voice overs
  • There is a 5 min limit per recording
  • Recorded videos go directly to a connected Google Drive account under
    • “Screencastify” folder on Google Drive
  • Screencastify will allow the option to upload videos directly to a YouTube account

Adding the extension Screencastify

**You MUST be using Google Chrome to use screencastify**

  • Go into your search bar and go to the Chrome Web Store
  • Search “screencastify” and click install

Using Screencastify

  • On the top right corner, click the screencastify symbol and a box will pop up (as seen in the picture)
  • Video type options
    • Browser tab
      • Screen recorder WITHOUT website tabs visible
    • Desktop
      • Screen recorder including the WHOLE desktop
    • Webcam
      • Your laptop/computer camera
      • Caution! Your face is displaced.
  • Can include a voice recording by turning on “Microphone” under the video type options
  • Embed webcam on tab/desktop recording will allow your videos to include your face

Using Screencastify To Upload Videos

  • After ending the video, your video will pop up
  • On the side, you will have options for your video
    • Google classroom
    • Youtube
  • Click on “Publish to YouTube”
    • Although other options are available, we will solely focus on Youtube for this tutorial
  • Add your channel

Uploading Files to YouTube

(from your computer)

  • From your YouTube home screen, click the upload icon on the top right corner
  • Upload your video from your files
    • Must be an .mp4
  • Can change privacy settings (explained on next slide) and add to a playlist
  • Publish

Making Your Video Private

  • Only share “private” link with the people you want to share it with
  • Differences between the availability options
    • Public
      • ANYONE can view video and see your videos from the search bar.
    • Private
      • Only people who have been invited (MUST have a YouTube/Google account) can view the video. No one can view video from the search bar unless viewer is invited.
      • People who are invited cannot share video to friends who are NOT invited
      • Can share up to 50 people
    • Unlisted (Recommended!!!)
      • Only people with the link can access the video. No one can view the video from the search bar.
      • YouTube/Google account not required

Creating a Playlist

  • Playlists are your organizing tools to keep similar videos in one place
    • Ex. A teacher would want to keep Chapter 1 videos in one playlist and Chapter 2 in another
  • TEACHERS! If you would like to use other videos that are not your own, you can create playlists of those videos and send the link out to students
    • Ex. The Organic Chemistry Tutor videos can be put into a playlist for other students to view

Giving Live Presentations

  • Going live allows your viewers to watch you in real time.
    • Use your computer’s camera or external camera connect to computer
    • Screen recordings with voice so the people can see and hear you
  • Viewers can give real time comments or ask questions
  • Video will remain on account after ending live stream
    • Viewers who were unable to view live stream can still come back and view the whole video
    • Can read comments in real time
  • Live stream can be public, private, or unlisted
