  • Thesis statements are the crux of your paper in ONE, declarative sentence

    • Explains why the audience should care about your speech
  • Formula for thesis statements:

Ex: MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech was the most important speech in the 20th century because it inspired all Americans to pursue racial harmony and influenced legislation and policy that still impacts our lives today.
