Sora is an ebook and audiobook platform that is accessible through Schoology.

​

Students (and staff) DO NOT require a library card or access code and PIN.

​

You can browse and check out ebooks and audiobooks directly from Schoology.

Sora has both an LAUSD and LAPL collection. It provides access to ebooks, comic books audiobooks, and magazines.

​

You can read/listen to ebooks and audiobooks via your computer or on the free Sora app on your phone or device.

Let’s get you set up with Sora! Here’s a step-by-step video.

Before we begin, please make sure pop-up windows are enabled in your browser.

Log into Schoology, click on the app waffle, click on “Sora”.

If you don’t see it in the drop-down, please search for it in the LMS App Center and download.

Click on the “hamburger” in the upper right corner to add the LAPL Collection to the LAUSD collection of books.

Now you can begin searching for and reading ebooks and audiobooks.

You can find books in over 50 languages.

You can download the Sora app to your phone and sync it to your account in Schoology. Then you can listen and read on your phone and on your computer.

The books you check out will be yours for 21 days. If you want them again, you can go back into Sora and check them out again.

​

Sora will keep your place current in either device.

Ways to use Sora!

  • Listen to an audiobook of a book you are reading for a class.
  • Forgot your print copy of a book? Check it out on Sora.
  • Read a book in Spanish, Russian, Thai or other languages.
  • Find magazine articles for a research project you are working on.
  • Read a comic for fun!
  • Can’t find the book in our library? Search Sora. It might be available.
  • Many of the eBooks have multiple or unlimited copies. Start a book club of your own to read and discuss a book of your choice.
