I bought four maps and had them framed.

I wanted to hang my maps in the common areas outside my office, but it was filled with the building owner’s art.

There were a few spots with empty walls.

I figured my maps could at least go in the lunchroom.

13

October 24, 2023

Pixeum - PART

I was wrong.

The owner was

very particular.

Only images

approved by the owner

could go in

the common areas.

14

October 24, 2023

So I decided to put my maps up on the walls of my office.

I became even more interested in maps of San Francisco.

I also bought and digitized more maps.

17

Then I met this guy.

He’s an inspiring fountain of knowledge.

Jim and I decided to host a pop-up exhibit on maps of San Francisco.

I would organize it. He would talk about it.

19

October 24, 2023

Pixeum - PART

I had the maps scanned and mounted onto poster boards.

I got pretty smart about digitization.

...which we did.

I had accumulated a lot of:

  • Maps
  • Knowledge about digitizing

I realized that i had a digital collection.

And I knew that everything is more fun if you can help your friends.

My motto of late has been:

“Carpe Diem Con Amigos”

I decided to make a website to enable people to tell stories with their maps and images.
