Past Work - Background

  • Extensive experience handling SNF and highly radioactive materials in both wet and dry transfer environments
  • Developed radiation work packages for DOE approval
  • Accustomed to quality assurance and DOE oversite requirements, radiation hazard mitigation steps, and safety hold points

  • SNF is handled with the same methods as high activity radioactive sources; shipments are commonly 100,000 Ci+
  • Hazard mitigation protocols and safety are virtually identical to purely RAM sources.

Training – Rail Force-on-Force(FoF) Exercise

  • January 2022, STS supporting ORNL conducted a Rail FoF with agents of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to include other SC agencies.
  • The exercise utilized non-lethal ammunition, multiple scenarios during hours of daylight and darkness
  • Exercise controllers provided observation and de-briefs
