We are learning to transform shapes using reflection, rotation and translation.
Tantalizing Transformations
1
Enlargement
An enlargement simply involves making a shape larger!
You will be given a scale factor. In this instance it is 2. We simply multiply the length of each side by 2.

Lines of Symmetry
1
This shape has one line of symmetry. If we cut the shape down the middle, both halves would match exactly. If we placed a mirror on this line, it would reflect the other half of the shape.
Draw the lines of symmetry through these shapes

Reflection
We reflection is an image or shape as if it would be seen in a mirror - a mirror image.
Draw these shapes in your book and reflect them over the line.
A
B
C
D
Reflect shape A over the x axis.
Reflect shape B over the Y axis.
Reflect shape C over the line y=1
Reflect shape D over the line x = -5
2
Rotation
A rotation is a circular movement. There is a central point that stays fixed while everything else moves around it.
Rotate the square 90 degrees and colour it blue.
Rotate the square 270 degrees and colour it green.
Rotate the triangle 90 degrees and colour it blue.
Rotate the triangle 180 degrees and colour it green.

Transformations
Reflect shape A over the y axis.
Translate shape B 3 places down and 2 places to the right (3, -2)
Rotate shape C 90 degrees clockwise about the origin
Reflect shape A over line y=5
