[2nd GRADe] This week we focused on...

Daily 5: This week, the class reviewed picking good fit books and learned Listen to Reading. The class used Raz-Kids to practice Listen to Reading. The read aloud this week revolved around the topic of finding a way in a new place.

Writing: As the students continue to work on their Small Moment stories, the class shared their stories and revised what they have written. The class also reviewed that their stories should be authentic, it matters to them and there is one thing from the story that they can HUG tightly.

Theme: This week, the students read One World, One Day and discussed the culture of other countries. As the class studies landforms, the 2nd Graders will also learn about culture from other places.

EE: The 2nd Graders were so excited to try Zucchini Muffins during snack time. The class also went on an alphabet nature scavenger hunt around campus.

This week’s 2nd Grade Math Homework was pages 7-18 and 19-20.

[1st GRADE MATH] This week we focused on...

This week the 1st graders focused on part-part-whole to ten. The students practiced story problems with unknown variables in either three positions (Part + Part = Whole). The 1st graders also learned to subitize or to recognize a quantity quickly without having to count each individual object. The class also learned a new workplace to help practice identifying nickels and pennies and how much they are worth. Lastly, the class learned how to measure items around the room with popsicle sticks. The class also practiced measuring two helpers in the classroom to see how many popsicle sticks long they were.

This week’s 1st Grade Math Homework was pages 5-6. This weekend’s Homework is pages 7-8.
