    • Follow the road maps. If you skip the reading and workbook pre-activity questions, you’ll miss stuff. Use the video links for extra help and take notes in the workbook.
    • There’s no team project. Collaboration is encouraged, but all mini projects and workbook HW must be individually completed and submitted to gradescope.com
    • Ask questions. There are no dumb questions. Truly.
      • In class.
      • Use WebAssign “ask your teacher” for WebAssign problems
      • Office hours Fridays 12 - 1pm
    • Syllabus has information on WebAssign & gradescope HW.
    • Do as much of the workbook as you can. It’s how you’ll learn. If you skip problems, you won’t know what you’ve missed.

Other stuff.

  1. Exams. The final exam time is set by the university, which is linked in the syllabus. Don’t make conflicting travel plans.
  2. There’s a syllabus quiz in the WebAssign homework list, due Friday January 22, 11:59pm.
  3. The syllabus calendar and road maps are dynamic (updated regularly).
  4. In each road map, you can electronically check off tasks. First click on the checkbox, then right click on it, then choose the checkmark from the pop up box.
  5. You can set your google calendar to remind you of upcoming assignments.
  6. A former student quote:

“One thing that worried me was how stats is not your typical math course and there is a lot of deep thinking that goes into it. You can’t just plug and chug numbers into formulas. I overcame it by studying with friends in my class. My advice would be to study in groups and use the tutor center.”

To do before next class:

  1. Get the workbook.
  2. Register for WebAssign. The class key is in the syllabus. You have already paid for this with your registration.
  3. Find the road map for week 1, and complete the pre-activities before class. WebAssign pre-activities allow multiple tries, so keep going until you get the correct answer. Penalties for wrong answers are small (10 - 15%). Write down any questions you have (in the workbook) so you can ask in class.
