School Life at Red Setting
2022
What do we need to know about being at Red?
If you forget your mask, Debbie at Hauora reception will give you one - your Ako teacher has a few spare, too.
For some people wearing a face covering is unsuitable. If you cannot wear a face covering, your caregiver needs to contact Ms Denzler.
If you do not have an exemption, or refuse to wear a mask, you will be sent to the Senior Leadership Offices where the principal and deputy principals are - they will contact home.
How do I wear a mask?
What happens if I’m sick with COVID
At the moment…
You will need to isolate for at least 14 days while you recover from COVID-19 and be symptom-free for 72 hours.
If you are displaying COVID symptoms at school, you will be asked to go to Hauora to sign out and go home.
What happens if someone from my household has COVID?
Can we play sports or do music?
Yes you can play sport, but the guidance around sport is still being developed, so expect further updates. You do need to provide proof of vaccination. To help make things easier please use this Google Form to upload proof of vaccination. But also be prepared to show your Vaccine pass if requested.
Yes you can sing outside with 2 metre distancing, not inside. Wind instruments are not to be shared and limited to home use, or outside only
What about Ako classes and Assemblies?
I’m Year 13 - can I leave during study time/ lunch?
For Health and Safety reasons, once you arrive at school, you need to stay on site.
You won’t be able to leave the site at lunch at the moment either
These measures will be in place for term 1 and we will revise them at the end of the term.
In the classroom?
You will be in a seating plan for all your classes - this will help us to determine close/ casual contacts if someone has COVID
We can’t eat food during class, but you can have your drink ( but please make sure your mask goes straight back on afterwards)
What if I have an appointment?
This term you will all need to sign out at Hauora and show Debbie your appointment details. She will give you a green pass - you can’t leave school without one.
We’ve got to keep doing this, too.
So it’s important for us to look after our wellbeing and to learn how to look after our wellbeing when we aren’t feeling great. We can do some work on this through Ako, too.
Top ways to look after your mental wellbeing
Stay connected
This is important for our wellbeing and helps to make us feel safer, less stressed and less anxious. We can support each other through the recovery, by keeping the connections and close ties to others t
Acknowledge your feelings
It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, worried or scared. Give yourself time to notice and express what you are feeling. This could be by writing thoughts and feelings down in a journal, talking to others, doing something creative or practising meditation. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling. Reach out to others.
Stick to routines where possible
Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time, eat at regular times, shower, change your clothes, see others regularly, either virtually or in person. Meditating and exercising can help you to relax and have a positive impact on your thoughts.
Check in on other people who might need help
Reaching out to those who may be feeling stressed or concerned can benefit both you and the person receiving support.
Limit your time online
You may find it useful to limit your time online. Check media and social media at specific times once or twice a day.
What if I need to talk to someone?
Talk to a trusted adult
Our student intranet has a lot of information about this. You can also connect with our hauora team.
