How to use this slide deck...

  • Keep slide three as a template. Feel free to change it to suit your needs. Try out different backgrounds, colors, fonts, change the sentence starters, text boxes, etc. Don’t complete any of the boxes on slide 3 so it can remain a template.
  • Each day, go to the left side (where all of the little slides appear), and do the following:
    • Highlight your template (slide 3) by clicking on slide 3 so that it is highlighted. The space around the little slide should turn a peachy color.
    • Copy (ctrl + c) the slide.
    • Click below your last slide so that a line appears under the last small slide on the left.
    • Paste (ctrl + v) the template slide. You can copy and paste multiple slides at once by hitting (ctrl + v) as much as you need.
    • Fill out a new slide each day that you add a journal entry. You are making your own primary source document!
    • Be reflective and have fun! You are NOT required to share this with anyone. If you’d like to keep a private copy, it’s best to do that on paper instead of a computer. You can print out multiple copies of your slide template, fill in with a pen or pencil, and add a cover. (Suggestion: If you print your template, keep a white background to use less printer ink.) You may also make your journal on notebook paper or in a notebook of some kind if you prefer. It is your own personal record of your thoughts for the day.
