Suggested Learning Schedule

As a district we recognize there are practical limits to trying to continue the instructional program in an online format. That is not our goal at this time. We will continue to provide a variety of review resources for parent-guided and self-guided learning for students through March 31st. Here are some suggestions for how to structure this.

  • We recognize that each family will need to determine the structure that works best for them based the number of children in the household and access to resources.

  • Take advantage of some new opportunities to learn at home. Spend more time cooking together, play family games, or collect items from nature in your backyard.

Read or listen to the poem and the author's notes.

Notice the way the poem rhymes at the end of the first, second and fourth lines.

Write your own poem about an animal in your life, or one that you can observe outside. Use the same rhyming pattern as My Flat Cat.

Once your poem is finished, get creative and make something to illustrate the animal in your poem. It could be a picture, a play dough creation or anything you can dream up.

If you'd like to take a picture of your artwork and poem, you can email it to Mrs. Durant or Mrs. Brown and we will post it on Google classroom.

Basic Fractions Review:

2.) Students can watch the video and then take the quiz that follows. Two quizzes are offered, one challenging and one more basic. Students may try just one and/or both.

3.) Following the quiz students may answer the following questions in writing. If they have trouble please encourage them to revisit the video for clarification. Questions: A.) In a fraction (parts of a whole) what does the numerator stand for? B.) In a fraction what does the denominator stand for? C.) Why do you think fractions are used? What do they tell us?

This number should help you to locate food pantries in the Capital District that are closest to your location in the event of long term school and work closures.

This number is to limit the need to go out and search for food pantries that are open, due to the fact that some food pantries are closing because of low staffing and lack of supplies.
