💥Jeff Koons Special Sale💥
The work replicates Jeff Koons' Balloon Dog and focuses on a process-based approach that directly mimics the mass-production methods of contemporary art. To recreate a factory environment, conveyor belts and workstations were installed in the exhibition space, where three workers in blue anti-static suits produced items using balloons and aluminum plates.
The production process was designed to give visitors an experiential understanding of how artworks are manufactured and consumed within an industrial system. This method parodies Jeff Koons' actual edition production practices, satirizing the mass production and commodification of contemporary art.
The completed works were sold for 1,000 KRW — approximately 99.99% off — and the act of selling them itself became a performance that revealed the tension between authenticity and commodification in contemporary art.

The Strategy for Elevating Native Plants to Premium Status for the Conservation of Plant Diversity in Urban Development Areas
This project reimagines endangered native plants as luxury items, such as Hermès Birkin bags, in an effort to promote biodiversity conservation through economic and social value. Recognizing that luxury consumption and material abundance are significant values in Korean society, Dahoon Nam connects plant diversity not only to environmental protection but also to financial appeal and tangible benefits.
By doing so, he proposes a new strategy that combines ecological preservation with social persuasion, encouraging voluntary conservation efforts through the language of desire and value.

The Temptation of Fare Evasion
Dahoon Nam’s The Temptation of Fare Evasion critically examines the rule-bound and hierarchical structure of Korean society, offering visitors an experience of transgression and choice.
Through a replica of a subway turnstile made from various materials, visitors are confronted with two options: either follow the rules by tapping a transit card or attempt to evade the fare by bypassing the system.
Nam invites the audience to become active agents in choosing between the stable path of compliance and the risky path of defiance.
This work reveals that acts of deviation are not merely violations of rules, but symbolic gestures that explore new possibilities and challenge oppressive social structures.

Lottery Shop Project
This project critically explores the contradictions of extravagant desires in contemporary society through the popular medium of lotteries.
The artist creates fake lottery tickets in the style of Spito and Lotto, reconstructing a lottery shop within the gallery space and encouraging visitors to purchase tickets and participate in a drawing, allowing them to experience the gap between expectation and reality.
Notably, the prize is awarded in Zimbabwean dollars, a currency rendered worthless by hyperinflation, thereby highlighting the economic instability and vulnerability of the modern world.
Through this, the project sharply critiques the disillusionment where effort and achievement do not necessarily correlate in contemporary society.

MoMA from TEMU This exhibition critically explores the relationship between contemporary art and capitalist systems by recreating highlights from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) collection using mass-produced goods purchased from stores such as Daiso, Temu, Coupang, and IKEA. Dahoon Nam reinterprets Rothko’s paintings with dish sponges, Donald Judd’s sculptures with IKEA shelves, and Carl Andre’s works with fake Lego bricks, dismantling the authority and originality of the artworks. By transforming the elite status of museum art into accessible consumer goods, Nam blurs the boundaries between art, popular culture, and commodification, inviting viewers to critically reconsider the essential value of art and the position of contemporary art today.

Project Affordable Masterpieces
Dahoon Nam recreates a discount store, resembling Emart, to parody contemporary artworks using mass-produced goods and waste materials, selling them at low prices to explore the essence and value of art within modern consumer culture.
By replicating and selling expensive works by artists like Yayoi Kusama and Jeff Koons using inexpensive materials in the symbolic space of a supermarket, Nam subverts the originality and authority of contemporary art and satirizes the commodification of art within the capitalist system.
This project encourages visitors to actively participate by purchasing the works, transforming art from a passive object of viewing into a space for play and engagement.

Currency Exchange Project
In this project, visitors offer real money and, in return, receive hand-drawn currency created by the artist, exposing how the value of both money and art is subjective and deeply reliant on social systems.
The hand-drawn bills hold no monetary worth, yet they provide participants with a unique and meaningful artistic experience, parodying the reality where contemporary art is bought and sold like currency.
Through this participatory performance, Dahoon Nam prompts viewers to reconsider the relationship between art and money, critically reflecting on the contradictions and absurdities of the contemporary art market.

VR of Section Chief Jeong from Infinite Company Performing a Work Ability Evaluation
In an era dominated by technological advancement and hyper-competition, Dahoon Nam seeks to reexamine the problems of contemporary society by recreating virtual reality through analog means. Critiquing the blind belief that endless scientific progress inevitably leads to “truth,” Nam highlights how such faith has, in fact, produced the horrors of nuclear weapons and the ignorance of eugenics. He argues that revisiting existing realities with fresh perspectives offers more meaningful solutions.
VR of Section Chief Jeong from Infinite Company Performing a Work Ability Evaluation draws inspiration from an episode of the Korean variety show Infinite Challenge, reflecting the story of Section Chief Jeong, who, despite his clumsiness with technology, achieved the top score in a work evaluation. The exhibition explores the idea of "replicating experience" through meticulously recreated interiors of a home and alleyways, crafted using a wide variety of materials.

#21 Dahoon Nam recreates the interior and exterior of an old laundromat that once stood in front of the gallery, offering visitors a surreal experience where the real laundromat and its replica face each other. The original laundromat, which had been on the verge of disappearing due to the effects of gentrification, eventually vanished after the project was completed. Through this work, Nam invites viewers to look at everyday spaces with fresh eyes, highlighting issues of urban development and disappearance. By replicating the laundromat, he records and preserves the fading memories of the city, encouraging audiences to reconsider the landscapes of their daily lives.
