CZECH FOR FOREIGNERS II
Czech Language for Foreigners II�
Requirements for course completion:
final examination: credit test and oral examination
attendance: maximum two unexcused absences
Passmark: 70%,
may be reduced to 60% by passing tests/completing homework
Scoring >90% on average in progress tests will put you amongst the students with the possibility of skipping credit test. (Only top 10% of students get to skip the credit)
Progress tests/Projects:
4 progress tests, passmark 70%. Passing reduces the passmark of the credit by 2% per successful test
(4% from the oral test)
Sidenote: passing the credit is easier than achieving 90% on every progress test, therefore divide your time wisely

Warning! Failure to pass Czech prevents enrollment in the next semester of Czech. You will have to wait until the next spring semester (2025) to repeat the failed semester of Czech.
LATIN II
(BASIC MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY II)
Basic Medical Terminology II
Requirements for course completion:
final examination:
credit test 70% passmark, 60% if all progress tests/classwork is completed
If you pass the credit test, you get to do the Oral Examination.
attendance:
maximum one unexcused absence, active participation.
homework:
“weekly ROPOTs” (at least 70% must be completed to sit the final exam! )
project:
10-15 minute presentation on a topic explaining relevant terminology
must include an interactive task for other students
Basic Medical Terminology I
Tips:
● Memorize the declension table, Study from the handouts as well as presentations!
● Constant revision! Study a few words every day or two
BIOLOGY
Biology II
practice:
1 absence allowed but protocols have to be filled and signed
2 progress tests: min. 24 points (or pass credit test)
lecture:
Oral Examination. (Completing the course will open Biochemistry I, Physiology I and Histology II)
Warning : students with less than 24 total points may resit the progress tests
if the student cannot obtain 24 points after the resit, the student must take the credit test
Biology II
Books and materials:

● For Partial tests:
Mainly refer to the practice presentations in IS and supplement with department lectures.
Completed protocols from practices.
● For Oral Examination:
Refer to the Department White Book and Lectures.
MEDICAL ETHICS
Medical Ethics
Requirements for course completion:
○ Lecture:
-Attend at least 2 lectures for attendance.
-Having 2 presences will allow you to perform the written examination.
-Incase you were NOT able to pass the written test, the second attempt follows, which is an oral examination.
HISTOLOGY AND EMBRYOLOGY I
Histology and Embryology I
Requirements for course completion:
-Practice
-100% attendance. All absences must be regularly excused and substituted! (You have one unexcused absence but it must also be substituted)
-Completed protocols during class. (Make sure you print the protocols)
-Pass 4 out of 5 Partial tests. Each test you must score at least ⅗.
Partial tests:
-Incase the student does not pass 4 out of 5 partial tests, the credit test follows.
-Failure in the credit test will result in the student having to enroll the course again.
Histology and Embryology I
Books and materials:
● Department Lectures.
● White book for General histology. (Guide to General histology and Microscopic anatomy)
● Junquerias for Histology.
● Before we are born or Langman for general embryology.
● Also refer to the Practice Presentations.
ANATOMY
Anatomy
Requirements for course completion:
lecture: Final examination
seminar: attendance (maximum one absence allowed)
practice: attendance (no absences allowed)
dissection: dissection exam, attendance (no absences allowed)
2 ways to do the final exam :
USMLE way: Require at least 6 points out of all 3 USMLE tests and a minimum C grade in 1st and 2nd dissection exam.
Normal way: oral exam
