Remix Activity Directions
On slide 3, you’ll find the National Equity Project’s original mindset reflection activity on the left.
On the right, you’ll see space where you can “remix” their activity to support your teacher candidates to apply these mindsets as they design for learners!

Naliza’s Remixed Activity
Why:
It is the beginning of the school year and you are setting the norms and intentions for your class. Instead of you the teacher setting class expectations, consider involving your students to help determine what classroom norms and expectations will be for the year. Follow the tasks below and have your students determine their intentions for the year then as class come up with the intentions for the year.
How:
Task 1: Review the mindset cards
Task 2: Each student in the class will choose 1- 2 mindsets to ground their year individually.
Task 3: Each student will reflect on their choices by considering the following prompts: Why did you choose those specific intentions? Provide an example of how you implement these intentions during the year.
Task 4: As class add the intentions to the norms, expectations and intentions list for the class. Make a note which intention was added by each student or students (this way you can always revisit these intentions mid-year and/or end of the year to check-in how students are doing with their chosen intentions).
